Human Resources Honored for Compensation Process

ACC’s Human Resources Department recently was recognized for the process it created to convert new and existing adjunct faculty members to a market-based compensation system.

Dr. Geraldine Tucker and Victoria West receive the SunGard Higher Education Innovation Award from SunGard's Laura Weathersby and CUPA-HR's Andy Brantley.

The department’s compensation team received the 2011 SunGard Higher Education Innovation Award from the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources. The award honors innovations that advance human resources or contribute to the overall excellence of the profession. It is the first time ACC has received the award, which included a $3,000 contribution to the Dr. Stephen B. Kinslow Endowed Scholarship.

“We were honored to be recognized by our peers,” says Dr. Geraldine Tucker, ACC vice president of human resources. “Creating an innovative compensation system was a challenging and worthwhile program.”

The compensation team received the award for creating a process to convert adjunct faculty members to a pay system that ensures market-competitive salaries and promotes parity with full-time faculty with similar education and experience. The system also provides adjunct faculty with a long-term compensation plan.

“We appreciate the cooperation and support of all the ACC staff who assisted us in developing this compensation program,” says Victoria West, manager of compensation.
