ACC Students Participate in 10th Annual “Project: Build a Park”

More than 100Â Austin Community College District students, employees, and family members are preparing to take part in Student Life’s annual community service event. Project: Build a Park is set for Saturday, November 5, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Roy G. Guerrero Lower Colorado River Park (400 Grove Blvd.).

The group will clean up the park, located near ACC’s Riverside Campus, and spread mulch during the 10th annual Student Life day of service. In the past decade, Student Life has partnered with the Austin Parks Foundation to provide 6,000+ service hours to the community.

“The project really took off because of the commitment of our students,” says Cheryl Richard, director of Student Life. “Project: Build a Park has become more than a Student Life tradition – it’s an ACC tradition. We welcome the opportunity to make a difference in our community.”

In addition, participants will put together hundreds of bags filled with necessities to be donated to the homeless.

Student Life’s Project: Build A Park earned the Keep Austin Beautiful Community Involvement Award in 2003.
