Ever wanted to party with the stars? Now is your chance. The Austin Community College District will host a star party at Round Rock Campus Friday, December 2 (5:30-9:30 p.m., 4400 College Park Dr.). The events give the community opportunities to learn about astronomy, enjoy planetarium shows, and access the campus’s
observation deck.
“These events are fun and educational for the entire family,” says Dr. Jim Heath, professor of astronomy and chair of the Physical Sciences Department. “We enjoy giving people a closer look at the many wonders of the sky.”
The star party begins in the Building 2000 lobby with shows inside the Austin Planetarium’s Discovery Dome, a digital mobile planetarium. Dr. Heath will discuss the history of astronomy and answer questions in Building 3000, Room 3339; guests will then observe the night sky through rooftop telescopes. The party will feature a variety of hands-on science activities.
The event is free and open to the public.
