ACC Community Invited to March in Honor of MLK

Austin Community College students, faculty, and staff are invited to celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King at the 19th annual MLK Community March on MLK Day, Monday, January 16.

The march will begin at 9 a.m. at the MLK statue located in the East Mall Circle of the University of Texas at Austin campus. Following a brief program, participants will walk to the state Capitol, and then to Huston-Tillotson University for a day long festival with music and activities.

Sponsored by the Austin Area Heritage Council, the march is the culmination of several events honoring King, including the MLK Scholarship Awards, and the Day of Service. Previous marches have attracted up to 15,000 people.

ACC participants are encouraged to meet at the MLK statue at 8:30 a.m. For more information or to view a list of free parking locations, visit mlkcelebration.com, or contact Loretta Edelen at (512) 223.5106 or edelen@austí¬ncc.eclu. To learn more about ACC’s Community Outreach office, click here.
