If you’ve ever wanted to learn more about the ways Austin Community College uses its $1 per credit hour sustainability fee, a new online video explains how the money is making ACC a better steward of the environment – and it can help the college earn national recognition for its green initiatives.
As a finalist for the 2012 Climate Leadership Award sponsored by Second Nature and PlanetForward, ACC is one of 20 colleges and universities from around the country recognized for their efforts to promote sustainability. There are four institutions, including ACC, nominated in the two-year college category.
As part of the selection process, finalists submitted videos highlighting their programs. PlanetForward has posted the videos on its website and is inviting the public to vote for their favorite institution. Institutions with the most votes will be profiled at PlanetForward’s “Move the Planet” conference next month.

“We’re honored to be selected as a finalist but also excited to have the opportunity to show the ACC community how their contributions are making a difference,” says Andy Kim, ACC director of environmental stewardship.
Second Nature co-founder Anthony Cortese says the 2012 finalists represent the “best of the best” in institution-wide approaches to promoting a culture of sustainability through teaching and action.
In May, a committee from the American College & University Presidents’ Climate Commitment will select the 2012 Climate Leadership Award winners. Winning institutions will be announced at the ACUPCC Climate Leadership Summit at American University in Washington, D.C. in June.

Can we please get CAR2GO parking spots on campus? specifically on the eastview campus?!

Seriously, just use your parking pass on whatever vehicle you happen to be driving. In other words, use any student (or, if you’re a staffer, a staff spot) parking spot and deal with parking like every other driver.

I’d like to suggest a move to more Green parking locations at each campus to encourage economy cars and preference to those cars in parking. Currently at Northridge in the Staff parking only 2 spots reside and they are charging stations only. Shouldn’t there be more?

Seriously, (in response to the clearly misguided and ANONYMOUS reply above) Car2Go can’t be parked on campus once it’s checked back in, so it can not be dealt with “like every other driver.”
I would like a safe place on campus to park the car2go when i drive it to campus. I am not asking for a preferential spot at all. just one actually on campus.
I work at night and would like a safe way to check out a car2go- having a car2go parking area could be a safe way for that to happen.
It would also be a way to support green parking for those that can’t afford to buy a green vehicle!
I am an educated woman, so if it was as simple as dealing “with parking like every other driver,” I would have done that already.
I am earnestly requesting a safe (& GREEN!) way to get to and from campus.

Oh wait, there are no numbers for that.
Oh well, at least we get to pay more fees for another boondoggle.

I wish CapMetro would create more routes to bring students to the Cypress Creek Campus that have a handicap. So far Cedar Park and Pflugerville have there routes but they left out anyone living over on 620. Our closest campus is CYP and no real options for alternative transportation. This needs to be addressed.
