Vote Now on ACC's QEP Name

The name receiving the most votes will become the official QEP name.

Austin Community College is closer to having a name for its Quality Enhancement Plan, or QEP. After receiving dozens of suggestions, the Student Success Initiative Steering Committee has narrowed down the choices to the final three in the Name Our QEP Contest.

Now it’s your turn.

Go to the QEP contest page starting Monday, April 16, and enter your favorite in the online ballot. Voting ends 5 p.m. Thursday, April 19. The name receiving the most votes will become the official QEP name.

The QEP name choices are:

  1. Math PLUS (Practice, Learn, Understand, Succeed)
  2. Strength in Numbers
  3. The Path to Math

Everyone who votes will be entered automatically in a drawing for the chance to win Riverbat merchandise. The individual who submitted the winning name will receive a free iPad 2. (There will be a drawing if more than one individual submitted the name.)

ACC’s QEP is a five-year plan to transform developmental math classes. Research indicates that developmental math is the leading cause of student failure and withdrawal at the post-secondary level.

“We are proud of the college’s QEP and eager to build excitement around the changes it will bring,” says Dr. Richard Rhodes, ACC president/CEO. “We expect our QEP will have a huge impact on students’ success by making developmental math more engaging, more relevant, and more enjoyable for students.”

In addition to enhancing learning ACC’s environment and improving student success, the QEP is an important component of the reaffirmation of accreditation process conducted by the college’s accrediting body, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. ACC is undergoing the reaffirmation process now and will submit its QEP in fall.
