ACC Board Sets Fall 2012 Tuition

The Austin Community College District Board of Trustees set the fall 2012 in-district tuition rate at $62 per credit hour, a $5 increase over the spring/summer 2012 rate. The board set the out-of-district rate at $224 per credit hour ($62 tuition plus $162 out-of-district fee – a $20 increase in the out-of-district fee over spring/summer 2012). There are no additional fee increases.

“No one likes taking the difficult step of raising tuition, but this is what is needed to provide the programs and support services that ensure ACC can deliver on its commitment to student success,” says Dr. Barbara Mink, chair of the Board of Trustees. “We’re keenly aware of what this means for our students, and we have implemented a variety of cost-saving measures to deal with the continuing consequences of state funding cuts.”

These measures have included budget cuts for technology, facility improvements, and administrative departments. ACC is growing scholarship opportunities, and the college offers a variety of payment options for students’ convenience.

“We are proud to remain the most affordable option for higher education in this area,” says Dr. Mink. “ACC is committed to increasing student success and maintaining open-door access for all who want to continue their education.”

In-district tuition applies to students who reside within ACC’s taxing district, which includes the City of Austin as well as the Austin, Leander, Manor, Del Valle, Round Rock, Elgin, and Hays school districts. Out-of-district tuition applies to students who live outside the taxing district but within Texas.

Summer registration continues through May 23. Fall registration begins May 14 for current and former students and June 11 for new students. For more information on applying and registering, visit austincc.edu/apply.
