The Austin Association for the Education of Young Children (AAEYC) recently honored three ACC faculty and staff members.
Linda Welsh, child care and development chair, received the Amanda Hernandez Teacher Educator Award for outstanding teaching experience. Tina Gamez, a teacher in ACC’s Children’s Lab School, received the Sallie Beth Moore Classroom Teacher of the Year, and Michelle Crawford, adjunct associate professor, received the Trainer of the Year award for outstanding training experience and AAEYC involvement.
“The recognition of our Child Development Department at ACC is just an affirmation of what the Austin community has always recognized as one of the quality training programs for early childhood education,” says Gary Hampton, ACC dean of applied technology, multimedia, and public service. “The faculty and staff are all committed professionals whose purpose is to train others in our community to be outstanding workers in early childhood settings.”
