ACC English Professors Share Stories from Life on the Road

The photo "Old Friends and Old Ways" is included in Joe O'Connell's exhibit "Road Stories."

Two ACC professors are sharing their stories from life on the road through a photo and “flash fiction” exhibit.

Joe O’Connell, English and creative writing professor, is hosting “Road Stories,” a display of images and short stories, throughout the month of May at Star Co. Coffeehouse and Café in Round Rock (114 E. Main St.). It is free and open to the public.

O’Connell will be joined by W. Joe Hoppe, assistant English professor, for the exhibition’s kick-off celebration Saturday, May 12, from 5 to 7 p.m. Hoppe, a road poet, will perform a reading during the event.

“The exhibit says a lot about me. I’m interested in the personal story, whether it’s a photograph or a short story,” O’Connell says. “The show is called ‘Road Stories’ because we are all always on our way to some place. It’s that journey that contains the story.”
