Mary Kohls, chair of the Computer Information Technology Department, recently was honored for her 25 years of service as faculty advisor for the ACC chapter of Phi Theta Kappa honor society.
At a recent Board of Trustees meeting, ACC President Dr. Richard Rhodes presented Kohls with the recognition on behalf of Phi Theta Kappa. He read a letter from the organization’s executive director and chairman expressing gratitude for Kohls’ service, adding that the success of Phi Theta Kappa students results from the efforts of ACC’s advisors.
“Mary Kohls for 25 years has been the person who has provided that guidance, that advice, that wisdom necessary to grow the chapter to the extent that you see today,” Rhodes said.
Kohls has taught at ACC since 1980. Her previous accolades include the NISOD Teaching Excellence Award, ACC’s Lifetime Honorary Advisor Award, and ACC’s Student Life Guiding Star award.
ACC’s Phi Theta Kappa chapter has been named a top 25 chapter internationally. Click here for more information about the chapter and its history at ACC.

I’m delighted to see Mary be recognized for all of her service to Phi Theta Kappa students these past 25 years. We are recognized nationally due to the leadership and inspiration that she conveys to her students. It is about time that she earned some recognition herself!
