Building Bridges to Student Success: Attend General Assembly Aug. 24

Plan now to attend ACC’s Fall General Assembly, Friday August 24 at the Hyatt Regency hotel, 208 Barton Springs Rd. in downtown Austin.

The event-filled day begins at 8 a.m. with breakfast and a chance for faculty and staff to visit information tables for various college departments and programs.

ACC President/CEO Dr. Richard M. Rhodes then will kick off the morning’s presentations with state of the college remarks. He and Interim Provost Dr. Enrique Solis together will discuss ACC’s ongoing reaffirmation of accreditation, including the upcoming site visit by representatives of ACC’s accrediting body, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.

Keynote speaker Dr. Mark David Milliron, Chancellor of WGU Texas, will present “Emerging Insights on Learning, Technology, and the Road Ahead in Education.” His presentation will include a student panel sharing their perspectives on their educational experience at ACC.

Participants can choose from several afternoon professional development workshops, including “Analyzing Data Using TIPS,” and “Shoot, Edit, Upload: Video Tools for Impactful Communication.” Sessions will run from 1:30 to 3 p.m. and from 3:15 to 4:45 p.m. at Highland Business Center. Click here to view the full list of workshops.

Those unable to attend can view a live webcast of the morning presentations on ACC’s live streaming website. A closed captioned video will be available after the event.

Because of the expected high attendance, please note available parking and shuttle options:

Parking at the Hyatt Regency is free, but limited, and carpooling is strongly suggested. Overflow parking for the Hyatt will be at the Palmer Events Center parking garage, located south of Lady Bird Lake between Riverside Drive, South First Street, and Barton Springs Road. Parking fees for the garage will not be reimbursed.

Shuttles will take employees from HBC to the Hyatt, leaving every half hour between 7:30 and 9:30 a.m. that morning. Shuttles will make return trips from the hotel to HBC between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Overflow parking for HBC will be available at Highland Mall.
