State Employee Charitable Campaign Underway

This year’s State Employee Charitable Campaign kicks off Monday, October 1, and continues until the end of the month.

The campaign gives employees an opportunity to contribute to dozens of charities directly involved with helping Central Texas residents, including the Capital Area Food Bank, the American Red Cross of Central Texas, Capital IDEA, SafePlace, and the Austin Humane Society. Employees also may give to a number of national and international organizations such as the March of Dimes and Habitat for Humanity, or even to those in our own ACC community through the ACC Foundation.

During the 2011 campaign, ACC employees contributed almost $58,000. This year, the college hopes to collect more than $60,000 in contributions.

“We are proud of ACC’s commitment and concern for those in our community,” says Geraldine Tucker, ACC vice president of human resources. “Year after year, we are overwhelmed and gratified by our employees’ willingness to open their hearts to those who need an extra helping hand.”

Contributing to the campaign is easy: Employees may donate through a payroll deduction or make a one-time gift. Donation pledge forms can be obtained from designated SECC representatives at each campus. Each campus also will have special fundraising activities, including a “Change for Charity” competition to see which campus can collect the most money through donations of spare change.
