Drama Department presents ‘Locked in the Arms of a Crazy Life’ Oct. 4-13

The ACC Drama Department will dive into the life of poet Charles Bukowski in its production of “Locked in the Arms of a Crazy Life: Poems by Charles Bukowski,” Oct. 4 -13 at the Rio Grande Campus Mainstage Theater (1212 Rio Grande St., second floor). Performances take place Thursdays through Saturdays at 8 p.m.

An American poet, novelist, and short-story writer, Bukowski was influenced by his hometown of Los Angeles, and his work focused on the day-to-day lives of people on the lower rungs of society. ACC’s production will highlight 30 of Bukowski’s poems.

“I chose this material because I think our audience will love it. It’s real, it’s passionate, and it’s funny,” says Professor Shelby Brammer, Drama Department artistic director and director of the production. “It’s dark and moving, but essentially contains a lot of joy. We really wanted to bring these poems to life.”

Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for the public, with proceeds benefiting drama and dance scholarships. Tickets can be purchased in advance through ACC Marketplace.
