It Takes a College: Summit Participants Discuss Strategies for Student Success

More than 230 ACC administrators, faculty, and staff gathered at the Student Success Summit in November to hear student stories and feedback, view student success data, and share ideas.

Students offered input about policies and processes.

Participants from across the college discussed both points of pride on campus and opportunities to improve services. A student panel offered input about college policies and processes, specifically those relating to orientation and advising, and affirmed the importance of personal interaction between students and faculty and staff.

“The students pointed to the college’s real strength, which is our people,” said Dr. Stephanie Hawley, associate vice president of college access programs.

Student Success Summits each semester will give faculty and staff the opportunity to discuss individual success initiatives and how they will be reflected in ACC’s Academic Master Plan. The next summit, scheduled for Feb. 15, will focus on success equity.
