ACC to Host Peer Colleges at Upcoming Success Summit

Representatives from ACC, El Paso Community College, and McLennan Community College will convene at Highland Business Center Feb. 15 to share strategies for increasing student persistence, retention, and completion as part of the Texas Peer Coaching Initiative.

Participants in the daylong session hope to learn from each other by discussing results of ongoing initiatives at their campuses.

“This is a good opportunity to share important information and discuss how best to move forward with the goals of our individual institutions,” says Dr. Richard Rhodes, ACC President/CEO. “Together we can share effective practices and make significant progress on improving our students’ success.”

The Texas Peer Coaching Initiative was launched last year by Achieving the Dream, a national nonprofit program dedicated to helping community college students remain in college and earn a degree or certificate. Achieving the Dream has been a component of ACC’s Student Success Initiative for more than two years.

The meeting also will serve as ACC’s spring Student Success Summit. Student Success Summits each semester give faculty and staff the opportunity to discuss individual success initiatives and how they are reflected in ACC’s Academic Master Plan. Student Success goal teams, campus teams, and others will attend the Feb. 15 session.
