View the Wonders of the Sky at ACC Star Party

Austin Community College is hosting its first star party of the year Friday, Feb. 15 – giving the college and community an opportunity to view the wonders of the sky from the Round Rock Campus observation deck.

The event will kick off at 5:30 p.m. with shows in the Austin Planetarium’s Discovery Dome, a digital mobile planetarium, as well as family-friendly exhibits and interactive science activities (Building 2000 lobby). At 7 p.m., Dr. Jim Heath, astronomy professor and chair of ACC’s Physical Sciences Department, will give a presentation on Pluto (Building 3000, Room 3339).

The Building 3000 observation deck will open at 7:30 p.m. Attendees are invited to view the night sky through the Physical Sciences Department’s newest telescopes.

“This is an event for students as well as the entire community,” Dr. Heath says. “Our hands-on activities make the star party fun for everyone.”

The event is free and open to the public. Round Rock Campus is located at 4400 College Park Dr. For more information, visit the star party webpage.
