ACC Public Policy Center Hosts Women in Politics Event April 6

The Austin Community College Center for Public Policy and Political Studies is hosting Women in Politics, a free event that connects attendees to prominent political figures. It takes place Saturday, April 6, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at ACC’s Eastview Campus (3401 Webberville Rd., Room 8500).

Panelists include:

  • State Sen. Leticia Van de Putte, president pro tem of the Texas Senate
  • Justice Melissa Goodwin, 3rd Court of Appeals
  • State Rep. Donna Howard, District 48
  • Hon. Sheryl Cole, Austin mayor pro tem
  • Linda Young, president of the National Women’s Political Caucus and special assistant to the ACC president for external affairs

The keynote speaker is Kamala Lopez, an actress, producer, director, and women’s rights activist.

“This event is meant to give women a chance ask questions of successful political figures and participate in a broad range of informative workshops,” says Peck Young, CPPPS director.
