Jazz Ensemble Performs Around Austin, April 20 and May 5

The Jazz Ensemble also performed at a 2009 inaugural event.

The college and community still have a couple of opportunities to catch a performance by the award-winning ACC Jazz Ensemble this spring.

The ensemble, along with Grammy-winning guitarist Redd Volkaert and vocalists Dayne Otto and Rob Wilmot, will headline the Texas Community Music Festival on Saturday, April 20, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Central Market (4001 N. Lamar Blvd.). The show is free and open to the public. The group will perform new music written by Artistic Director Dr. Tom Husak.

Volkaert will once again team up with the Jazz Ensemble when it kicks off the Austin Jazz Society’s Sunday Jazz Sessions on May 5 at the Shoal Crossing Event Center (8611 N. Mopac Expy.). Tickets are $10 for students and $20 for the public who are not members of the Austin Jazz Society. For more information, visit austinjazzsociety.org.

For the past 30 years, the ACC Jazz Ensemble has presented classic American jazz and pop music to audiences throughout Austin and across the state and nation – at concerts, receptions, charity events, and dances. In January, the ensemble played at the presidential inauguration gala; they also performed at an inauguration event in 2009.
