ACC Hosts Music & Recording Workshops for High School Students

Students will use professional sound and recording equipment.

Austin Community College’s Department of Music Business, Performance, and Technology (MBPT) will host workshops for high school students this summer, giving participants an opportunity to get hands-on experience in the music business. Students will learn about the industry, take part in a professional recording session, produce a demo, and help create a TV commercial.

Two sessions will be held, July 22-26 and July 29 to Aug. 1. Applications are due July 15.

“This is a unique opportunity,” says Professor Geoffrey Schulman, MBPT chair. “The workshop gives these students an inside look at music production and allows them to use the same audio equipment used by industry professionals. It’s a great way to explore a career in the music industry and get valuable experience.”

The workshop is open to all incoming high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Spring 2013 high school graduates may also be admitted if they plan to attend ACC.

The workshop fee is $40. For more information and an application, visit austincc.edu/mbpt. Interested students may also call (512) 223.4780 or email [email protected].
