HR Connection: Annual Benefits Enrollment, Mandatory Tobacco Use Certification

ACC’s annual benefits enrollment period is approaching. Employees can learn more at a benefits fair and presentation Thursday, July 18, from 9 a.m. to noon at Highland Business Center Room 201.

Representatives of the college’s benefit providers, along with ACC staff will be available to answer questions.

The annual benefits enrollment period is July 22 to Aug. 4. Employees can access benefit information and change their plan enrollment by going to the ERS website. Click the “Sign In” button at the top left of the screen. Those who are not changing their benefits do not need to take action; however, employees are encouraged to check their personal information and beneficiary designations.

Employees with TexFlex healthcare accounts that exceed the new $2,500 annual contribution limit will have their specified contribution automatically reduced to the maximum amount. No action is required.

Benefits staff will visit each campus to help employees change their enrollment or answer questions. View more information about benefits enrollment along with a schedule of campus visits.

Tobacco Certification Change – Required Action

ERS requires all health plan participants and their dependents to certify whether they use tobacco.

All participants — including those who do not use tobacco — must certify online by Aug. 31. Go to the ERS website before Sept. 1 and click the “Sign In” button at the top left corner of the screen.

All uncertified participants and their dependents 18 years or older will be charged a tobacco fee of up to $90 per month. Notices will go out in July to all participants who have not certified or have dependents who have not certified. For questions, contact Prisca Baker at (512) 223.7537.
