Austin Community College ranks among the top associate degree and certificate producers in the country, according to an analysis by Community College Week. In addition, ACC’s awards of degrees and certificates increased year-over-year in every category in which the college is ranked.

The 2013 “Top 100” list is based on data from the 2011-12 academic year from the U.S. Department of Education. Among associate-degree granting institutions, ACC ranked 79th in the nation for awards of associate degrees in all disciplines (1,789 degrees conferred that year, an increase of 19 percent compared with 2010-11). The college ranked 73rd for associate degrees awarded to minorities (704, an increase of 20 percent) and 55th for associate degrees awarded to Hispanic students (451, an increase of 26 percent).

In specific degree programs, ACC is ranked:

  • 21st for associate degrees in registered nursing and related programs (284, an increase of 11 percent)
  • 18th for associate degrees in communication, journalism, and related programs (35, an increase of 13 percent)

The number of ACC graduates has increased significantly in recent years, with a total of more than 2,600 students graduating in 2011-12 – up almost 63 percent over five years ago.

“ACC is committed to helping students reach their goals and increasing awareness of the importance of graduation,” says Dr. Richard Rhodes, ACC president/CEO. “These rankings are a reflection of our efforts in this area, and we are very proud of what our students have achieved.”
