Scholarship opportunities are available for ACC students studying science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM) fields. Applications will be accepted until all scholarship funds are awarded.
The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) recently awarded ACC a $328,900 grant to provide 125 scholarships to eligible STEM students. All STEM majors are eligible to apply. Scholarships up to $2,500 will be awarded and will help with tuition, fees, and books.
In addition, the National Science Foundation funds scholarships for students working on a degree or certificate in Biotechnology or Environmental Science and Technology. The S-STEM scholarship can be used for tuition, fees, and books, and it provides a living allowance for eligible students.
The eligibility requirements are the same for both scholarships, and include economic need, full-time status, declared STEM major, GPA, and a limited work schedule.
Applications are being accepted now and can be downloaded from austincc.edu/scholarships. For more information, contact Kelly Grant, scholarship coordinator, at 223.7551 or email [email protected].

Is nursing/applied science considered a part of STEM? I’m hearing both yes and no.

Why are Chemistry and Mathematics degrees not covered?

Chemistry and math majors are included for the T-STEM scholarship grant. The S-STEM scholarships are specifically for biotechnology and environmental/physical sciences. Hope this helps!
