ACC sociology professors Rennison Lalgee and Sam Echevarria-Cruz are spending the next three weeks in Tamil Nadu, India. The professors are collaborating to develop a sociology course on social problems in India and an associated study abroad program.
The two men landed earlier this week in Tamil Nadu capital, Chennai, and will work their way to Madurai. Follow along with them during their trip as they blog about their experiences.
Lalgee was awarded a $1,500 curriculum development grant by ACC International Programs and is one of two faculty recipients of the new Internationalizing Curriculum, Courses, and Instruction grant that supports faculty efforts to globalize teaching and learning at ACC.

Congratulations, gentlemen.
Learn lots and bring it back. The more our students know about the world the better equipped they will be to deal with its intricacies. Our students’ sphere of experiences must now be the world around all of us.

Gentlemen,
My hearty congratulations to both of you, specially because you are going to my home town. The very reading of your trip to India makes me homesick and a longing for a hometown visit. I wish I had known this earlier. Then I would have accompanied you and educated you on the “DOS” and DONTS” in Madurai.India.
