Students Show Off “Barkitecture” Skills Sept. 28

ACC students competed with and auctioned off this colorful dog house at Barkitecture 2012.

Students from ACC’s American Society of Engineering Education chapter will show off their skills at Barkitecture 2013 – an event that brings together designers and builders to create custom dog houses for charity. Barkitecture will take place Saturday, Sept. 28, from noon to 4 p.m. at Triangle Park (4700 N. Lamar Blvd.).

Austin’s top architectural designers and builders will auction off their dog houses, with proceeds benefiting animal rescue groups. Â The dog houses are also judged by a panel, with prizes awarded in various categories.

Last year, ACC was the winner in the “non-profit” division, which was decided by which dog house had the most raffle ticket sales. ACC’s dog house raised $740.

“This is an opportunity for our students to put their knowledge to use for a fun event and a great cause,” says Doug Smith, department chair for Architectural and Engineering Computer Aided Design. “We encourage everyone to come check it out and support our students.”

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, visit the Barkitecture website.
