Austin Community College has received approval from its accrediting agency to offer an Associate of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology beginning fall 2014. The program will be based at the ACC Elgin Campus (1501 W. U.S. Hwy. 290).
Students will learn the necessary skills to work with animals and assist veterinarians, including general animal care, surgical assistance, medical treatment, and laboratory testing. Courses include Canine and Feline Clinical Management, Large Animal Assisting Techniques, and Veterinary Pharmacology. In addition to offering the associate degree credential, the program will prepare students to take certification exams reflecting state and national standards.
ACC already offers prerequisite courses for the vet tech program; however, enrollment in the program is limited and students must meet admission criteria.
For more information about the program, faculty and staff can direct prospective students to the vet tech program webpage, or contact the Health Sciences Division at (512) 223.5700 or [email protected].

I am doing some research for my daughter that will graduate next year. She is looking into studying for a vet technician. She wants to start off at a community college and were seeing what schools offer that. I see that one will start fall of 2014 in Elgin but by next year will these classes extend to a Round Rock ACC? Or Austin location? Or do you know of another school that offers Vet tech classes, Thank you
