ACC’s music business and RTF programs host open house

The Music Business, Performance, and Technology Department (MBPT) at Austin Community College is hosting an open house Saturday, August 23, along with the Radio-Television-Film Department (RTF).

Tour the MBPT facilities from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Northridge Campus, 11928 Stonehollow Dr., Room 4136 in Building 4000. Afterward, visit the RTF studios and multi-media labs from noon to 3 p.m. in Room 4142.

MBPT faculty experts represent audio engineering and recording studio management, live sound reinforcement, concert promotion, talent management, entertainment law, music publishing, professional audio maintenance and record label administration, live performance and more.

“This event will be an excellent opportunity to discuss the program and possible career paths,” says MBPT Department Chair Geoffrey Schulman, “The faculty and staff of this department are all highly respected music industry professionals.”

ACC’s RTF programs include an associate degree in radio-television-film for university transfer and workforce certificates in both film/video production technology and management.

“It’s a very dynamic environment with converging areas of media intersecting,” says RTF Department Chair Christian Raymond, “We offer hands-on, project-based learning in which students use the technological tools right away.”

Visitors will have an opportunity to watch samples of what students have done and learn about the programs from the MBPT and RTF faculty and staff. The campus recording studios, labs, and live sound environment will be open to tour.
