Grand opening 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30 at new facility
Austin Community College is expanding resources to student veterans with the opening of the college’s fourth and largest veterans resource center at ACC Highland.
The ACC Veterans Resource Center will have a grand opening 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, October 30, near the east entrance of ACC Highland. Guests can learn about the center’s services, meet college and military leaders, and explore career training opportunities.
The celebration is free and open to veteran students and their supporters.

“It is extremely important that we honor our veterans, and this is one of the ways we can do it,” says ACC President/CEO Dr. Richard Rhodes. “The Veterans Resource Center will provide not just our 2,200 student veterans, but all veterans a pathway to achieve their dreams.”
The new 4,000 square-foot office will offer essential support services including VA certification, and advising for VA benefits. The center’s lounge offers military and student veterans a place to socialize, find peer support, and participate in veteran-specific activities.
ACC also has veterans resource office at Round Rock, Northridge, and Riverside Campuses.

I sincerely regret that I cannot attend. I teach at EVC during that time. I also couldn’t attend a related conference earlier in the semester. I hope to see more events that bring the faculty, counselors, VA staff, and vets together to explore, discuss, and create a supportive community with proven strategies for success. Perhaps the VA office should work with Missy Patterson and the Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning, among other entities.

Hi John, we are awaiting city occupancy permits before move-in can begin. They’re hoping to begin assisting students in January.
