ACC is one of six recipients of a Sustainability Award from Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE).
The college was honored for its case study, “How to Start a Comprehensive Composting and Recycling Program at a Commuter College.” Winners were announced last month at the AASHE 2014 Conference and Expo, the nation’s largest gathering of higher education sustainability professionals and students.
ACC recently added bathroom paper towel composting at Eastview Campus and Highland Business Center to its existing composting and recycling programs.
Recycling bin grants
The college also received two grants to purchase recycling bins for the Riverside Campus. A $22,000 grant from the Capital Area Council of Governments was used to buy and install outdoor bins, while an $8,000 grant from Keep America Beautiful was used to purchase bins for interior spaces.
Visit the Recycle and Compost webpage to learn about various recycling initiatives.

Yeah for ACC. I’m very proud to be working at ACC. Why not start composting paper towels at other campuses, like Riverside and South Austin Campus?
