Austin Community College has named Dr. Virginia Fraire, Ph.D., as vice president of student services.

Dr. Fraire will lead a diverse organization of professionals who support students from enrollment through graduation. Division offices include Admissions and Records, Financial Aid, Advising and Counseling, Student Success, and Special Populations.

She also will oversee compliance with government regulations while ensuring programs remain responsive to student’s needs and align with the college’s strategic plan and core values.

“I am tremendously excited about the experience Dr. Fraire brings to our leadership team,” says Dr. Charles Cook, ACC executive vice president and provost. “She is well-attuned to the needs of community college students, particularly those in our Central Texas region.”

Dr. Fraire graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, where she earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social work and a doctorate in educational administration. She joined ACC in 1995 as outreach and recruitment specialist and served four years before leaving for leadership positions at TG (formerly Texas Guaranteed Student Loan Corporation). She returned to ACC in 2006, serving as dean of student services at the Riverside and Pinnacle campuses.

“For years, I have felt privileged to be a part of ACC’s mission,” Dr. Fraire says. “I’m looking forward to serving the college in this leadership role and building upon our collaborative efforts to accelerate student achievement.”

Dr. Fraire’s appointment is effective February 1. Visit the Student Services webpage for more information about the programs and services the division provides.
