ACC is top choice for area high school graduates

State figures show Austin Community College (ACC) is the top choice among regional high school graduates, with more students enrolling at ACC than any other college or university.

The data, from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, examines 2012-13 graduates from 66 high schools across ACC’s service area.

ACC is the No. 1 college destination for nearly all high schools in the report. The college enrolled 2,803 of the area’s high school graduates in fall 2013.That’s 181 percent more than Texas State University (997 students) and 275 percent more than the University of Texas at Austin (748 students).| View all data

ACC also is the main source of transfer students to area universities.

“We welcome college students of all ages, backgrounds, and objectives,” says Dr. Richard Rhodes, ACC president/CEO. “In today’s economy, well-paying, in-demand careers require post-secondary education and training. ACC is proud to provide an affordable and flexible pathway for students to reach their goals.”

The college enrolls more than 65,000 credit students and up to 15,000 noncredit students each year, in areas including:
• Career and technical training
• Core curriculum for an associate or bachelor’s degree
• Developmental education
• Professional development
• Lifelong learning
