Explore the learning journey at inaugural AustinED Summit

Faculty and staff are invited to explore ways to better prepare students for higher education at Austin Community College’s inaugural AustinED Summit Thursday, June 11, at Riverside Campus.

The daylong summit, “Sharing the Learning Journey,” brings together representatives from secondary and postsecondary schools to share best practices for improving student success from middle school through college.

Speakers include Dr. Mark Milliron, co-founder and chief learning officer of Civitas Learning, and Austin ISD Superintendent Dr. Paul Cruz.

Administrators, faculty, and staff from both ACC and area ISDs will lead breakout sessions. Topics include:

  • “What Can We Do For You?: Comparing Support Services for Students in High School and College”
  • “How Do I Get From Here to There?: Transitioning Our Students from High School to College”
  • “AP?/IB?/DC?/ECHS?/CTE?: Analyzing the Pros and Cons of College Credit Options for High School Students”
  • How Do We Teach Students Today?: Sharing Best Instructional Practices Across the Spectrum”
  • “What’s Happening in the Lege?: Discussing Legislative Changes that Impact High School/College Partnerships”
  • “How Do We Prepare Students for TSI?: Practicing with the Latest Online Test Prep Materials
