Ceremony includes college’s first early college high school graduates
The Austin Community College District (ACC) will celebrate its spring graduates during commencement at 6 p.m., Thursday, May 14, at the Frank Erwin Center (1701 Red River St.).
The ceremony honors students who have completed ACC’s associate degree and certificate programs for the spring semester.
“This is an exciting time for our students,” says Dr. Richard Rhodes, ACC president/CEO. “Our students have worked hard and made sacrifices to reach this point, and the college is proud of all of their accomplishments.”
The college will recognize 13 students from the first cohort of the early college high school program who will graduate with an Associate of Arts. The commencement ceremony also will include a tribute to graduating veterans, who will receive medallions in appreciation of their service and stand for acknowledgement during the ceremony.
Dr. Walter Bumphus, president and CEO of the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC), and his wife Dr. Aileen Bumphus, executive director of the University of Texas at Austin’s Longhorn Center for Academic Excellence Gateway Scholars Program, will deliver a joint address.
