ACC hosts 11th annual women’s empowerment conference

Workshops focus on career development, relationships, and health

Austin Community College will host the 11th annual Women’s Health, Motivation and Empowerment Conference on Saturday, July 18, from 8:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Eastview Campus, Building 8000, Room 8500 (3401 Webberville Rd.).

“Women play a critical role in our society as role models. When we show them opportunities for personal growth, it can be empowering,” says Loretta Edelen, ACC conference organizer. “It’s about positive reinforcement. This is how we ignite that spark.”

The free event for women and teen girls draws in an annual crowd of 200-250 guests. carrollSessions cover health, inspiration, relationship building, and career development.

Attendees also will participate in a panel lunch discussion titled: “Connecting the Dots with Health, Motivation and Empowerment”. Minister Cardette Carroll will serve as special guest speaker.

“This conference serves as an annual reminder that I need to stay equipped and keep up-to-date on understanding my health as I get older, how to stay mentally and emotionally healthy, and how to accomplish dreams that have been stalled for years by fear,” says Rhonda Douglas, former ACC student and conference attendee. “It’s up to each of us as women to share our experiences, our struggles, and our triumphs.”
