Austin Community College professors will discuss the worldwide impact of recent international affairs in a new global issues speaker series this spring.
The first presentation is Wednesday, March 9, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Eastview Campus, Building 8000, Room 8500 (3401 Webberville Rd.). ACC Government Professor Roy Casagranda will discuss the origins of the Syrian disaster and its global effects.
“The Syrian civil war has created the worst mass displacement crisis since WWII,” says Casagranda. “We will look at the origins and causes of this crisis and then examine how it devolved into such a catastrophe.”
A second event is planned for late April.
The events, hosted by ACC’s International Program Department, are free and open to the public.
For more information, contact William Hayden, director of international programs, at 512-223-7114 or [email protected].

This issue is so important that I wish the college would do a live web broadcast–or at least make a video or transcript available–for anyone interested in the topic.
