The League of Women Voters of the Austin Area is hosting an open forum for candidates seeking election to ACC’s Board of Trustees on Thursday, September 29, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Highland Business Center, Room 201 (5930 Middle Fiskville Rd.). Candidates will answer questions from the public.

“The League conducts these candidate forums so that the public may become informed voters, learning about the individual candidates and more about the function of the Trustee board,” says Frances McIntyre, Director of Advocacy of the League of Women Voters Austin. “”In the interest of making democracy work, the Austin League provides this service and encourages early voting.”

The 12 candidates who will be on the November 8 ballot are:

• Place 4: Sean Hassan, Michael Lewis, and George Robinson
• Place 5: Nicole Eversmann, Thomas Miranda, and Anthony Schoggins
• Place 6:Nora Comstock, Doug Gibbins
• Place 9: Mitch Fuller, Julie Ann Nitsch, Guadalupe Sosa, and Jeremy Story

The open board seats are vacated by Jeffrey Richard (Place 4), Dr. Victor Villarreal (Place 5), and Guadalupe Sosa (Place 6). Trustee Allen Kaplan (Place 9) is stepping down after 22 years of service.
