ACC hosts Regional Equity Summit

The Austin Community College District hosts the Regional Equity Summit on Friday, February 3, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Eastview Campus, Building 8000, Room 8500 (3401 Webberville Rd.).

The theme of the summit is “Galvanizing Leaders for Systemic Change: Equity, Empathy, and Ethics in the 21st Century.” It is organized by the college’s Office of Equity and Inclusion. Community members are invited to attend, along with ACC students, faculty, and staff. Registration is required.

The summit will include roundtable discussions and more than a dozen breakout sessions including Digital Divide: What’s Tech Got to Do with Equity?, Girls and Women Join Hands to Transform Inequities, Unlocking Potential: Supporting Formerly Incarcerated Citizens, Beyond Rainbows and Parades, Policies and Practices to Support the LGBTQ Community in the Classroom and Public Spaces, and more.

Bayard Love, trainer and community organizer of The Race Equity Institute, will deliver the keynote address.

The summit is free to ACC students, faculty, and staff, $35 for community members, and $120 for executive directors and CEOs. A portion of the proceeds benefit the St. Johns Community Re-Entry and Restoration Scholarship.
