ACC selected for influential League for Innovation board

league for innovation logoAustin Community College has been selected to join the Board of Directors of the League for Innovation in the Community College, an international consortium dedicated to enhancing community colleges for their students and communities.

The 20-member board represents the nation’s most influential and dynamic community colleges. ACC and Dallas County Community College District are the only Texas community colleges on the board. See the list of League board member colleges.

“Whether it’s student success initiatives like guided pathways, or the revolutionary Highland Campus project, ACC truly represents the vanguard of today’s community colleges,” said Anne Kress, League for Innovation board chair. “It is an honor to welcome such a highly-regarded leader in innovative learning to the League board.”

ACC will be represented on the board by President/CEO Dr. Richard Rhodes, who will serve in the role as long as he is ACC’s chief executive officer.

“The League’s mission mirrors ACC’s own commitment to promoting individual success and strong communities through educational excellence and innovation,” Rhodes said. “I’m honored and delighted at the opportunity to work with this team of thought leaders to develop practices that will impact students here in Texas and nationwide.”

The League board provides strategic direction for the 500 colleges belonging to the League Alliance. Member institutions benefit from League-sponsored initiatives, resources, and learning opportunities that address critical issues such as student success, workforce development, and equity and inclusion.

Colleges considered for board membership must demonstrate excellence and innovation in areas such as institutional effectiveness, programming, and leadership. They are evaluated through a detailed self-study and an on-site visit by current board members.  View the ACC Innovations Self-Study.

Faculty and staff at board member colleges receive free access to materials offered through the League’s iStream online resource bank. ACC faculty and staff may visit the League for Innovation User Account webpage to sign up.
