ACC launches expanded weekend college options in fall

Austin Community College this fall is expanding learning opportunities with new Weekend College degree and workforce certificate programs at Highland, Round Rock, and Riverside campuses.

The programs provide students the option to complete an associate degree in general studies or specialized workforce certificates with weekend-only coursework. Classes are primarily held Saturdays with some Friday evening and online options.

“Weekend College provides a good alternative for adults who want a degree but have other obligations such as work and family,” says Dr. Gaye Lynn Scott, associate vice president of academic transfer programs. “Students can fit a degree or certificate into their busy life schedule.”

Weekend College is available to new and current students.

“We created these new options to provide increased access and flexibility,” says Dr. Gretchen Riehl, associate vice president of workforce education. “Weekend College is an intense program and students must be disciplined, but they can now see that a college degree is possible.”

Enrollment for fall is underway with classes beginning August 28.
