Faculty and Staff invited to General Assembly

Austin Community College faculty and staff are invited to join their colleagues at General Assembly/Fall Convocation 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, September 29, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel (208 Barton Springs Rd.). Online registration is required.

The theme, “Engagement: People. Purpose. Passion.,” sets the stage for a new framework for faculty involvement in college planning in support of the ACC Strategic Plan.

Like previous years, the morning will kick off at 8 a.m. with breakfast and an opportunity to visit resource information tables. The event also includes breakfast, a state of the college address by President/CEO Dr. Richard Rhodes, and a keynote address from Dr. Alison Kadlec, senior vice president and director of higher education and workforce engagement of Public Agenda. Dr. Kadlec will discuss the role of faculty and staff in guided pathways.

Afternoon Sessions

Afternoon sessions remain at the Hyatt to allow for a seamless transition to information and resources. Sessions include:

  • Faculty Core Values: for full-time and adjunct faculty
  • The Ripple Effect and State of Student Services: for student services staff and counseling faculty
  • Culture of Change and Innovation: for staff in all other departments

Lunch will be provided to those taking part in afternoon sessions.

Transportation and parking

Parking is available at the hotel; however, space is limited. Employees are encouraged to carpool, board Capital Metro, or ride a shuttle from the Highland Campus. Shuttles will depart from the Highland Campus West parking lot beginning at 7 a.m. and run every 15 minutes until 9 a.m. Returning buses will be available after the morning program and again at the end of the afternoon program.

Watch Live

Those unable to attend can view a live webcast of the morning presentation. A closed-captioned video will be available after the event.
