HR Connection: Flu shots, insurance plans, discounts, & more

The following is provided by the Human Resource Office:

Flu Shots available at ACC in late October

Most ACC campuses will host an on-site flu shot clinic between October 23 – November 2nd. Show your Blue Cross Blue Shield or Baylor Scott and White medical ID card along with a photo ID to receive the shot at no charge. Others can pay $30, cash or check. Appointments will be taken but aren’t required. Specific locations, dates and times coming soon.

Roth 403(b) Accounts Available in October

Beginning in October, you will be able to sign up to contribute to a Roth 403(b) account with most of the ACC voluntary savings plan vendors. Roth accounts allow employees to contribute after-tax rather than before-tax money to their retirement savings. When you become eligible to take the money out of the accounts, you pay no taxes on either the earnings or your contributions. Details about these accounts will be sent out in the next few weeks.

Aflac Supplemental Insurance Plans – The duck is back!

After a several year hiatus, ACC will again offer Aflac supplemental insurance plans to eligible employees. Aflac plans fill in the gaps of major medical coverage and pay directly to you above and beyond your regular medical insurance. Eligible employees will be able to enroll during our Fall Enrollment period from October 9 through November 10, 2017.

Enrollment sessions will be held at ACC campuses and coverage will become effective December 1. Additional information about the plans and the scheduled enrollment meetings will be announced in the near future.

Aflac will offer the following coverages which provide daily, weekly and/or lump sum benefits:

• Cancer Care
• Critical Illness Care
• Accident Care
• Hospital Care

Check your September Paycheck for Benefits Changes

It is always a good idea to carefully check your paycheck deductions, but it is especially important to do so in September when some of your benefit plan costs may change or to confirm any changes you made during summer enrollment.

Make sure you have the correct premium deductions and coverages and check your TexFlex contributions to be sure they are correct for the new year.  Unless you have a qualified life event during the year, you won’t be able to make any changes until next summer enrollment.
