Applications now accepted for summer research experience

Austin Community College (ACC) students interested in STEM careers may apply now for the Summer Undergraduate Research Experience Course (SUREC). Applications are accepted through Friday, November 10.

Students selected for the 12-week program will participate in research activities at the University of Texas at Austin’s Department of Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering. Students will receive a $2500 stipend and a tuition waiver.

“Opportunities to engage in undergraduate research is immensely beneficial to students,” says Dr. Kusali Gamage, program director and ACC Geology professor. “Students work hands-on in the field and in state-of-the-art labs. It brings the lessons they learn in class to life.”

Applicants must have completed or be enrolled in Calculus 1 and a college-level geology/oceanography course and have an overall GPA of at least 2.5. To learn more about the program or to apply, visit the SUREC webpage or contact Gamage at [email protected].
