Professor Roland Hayes is more than a professor of History, he is emblematic of professionalism. He inspires all students to pursue excellence and since my arrival to Eastview, Professor Hayes has served as a personal mentor to me and a host of others. Thank you Austin Community College for honoring one of the most humble and impactful men I know. He’s a National treasure!

I was in both of his African American history classes, I didn’t talk to him much, but he sure did inspire me. Thank you for being a great professor Mr.Hayes!

As an advisor, I usually hear about professors through student complaints. I heard about Roland Hayes through compliments and stories about how he inspired students to join an organization, attend an event, or get involved in some way. And he got me to watch the PBS series “Eyes on the Prize.” He is a teacher for all of us. Bravo and congratulations on the NAACP Lifetime Achievement Award!

I respect and admire his passion for teaching and for history especially African American History. He teaches with passion and speaks up for institutions and persons who cannot speak for themselves.

This is such great news as a previous student of Professor Hayes. It is very rare to see someone in such a position take so much pride in his people. As a woman of color I am so honored to have been taught by this wonderful soul. Congratulations professor!!!!!!!
