ACC examines species facing extinction in Global Issues Speaker Series

Austin Community College will present a discussion of the global biodiversity crisis as part of the college’s 2018 Global Issues Speaker Series.

Hosted by ACC’s International Programs, the presentation is Wednesday, February 28, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Highland Business Center, Room 201 (5930 Middle Fiskville Rd.).

ACC Earth and Environmental Sciences Department Chair Dr. Mark Shepherd will examine our effect on the species population.

“Many species are facing potential extinction as a result of habitat loss, invasive species, pollution, human population explosion, and overuse,” says Dr. Shepherd. “We will explore the number of species that could be lost within the next few decades.”

The event is free and open to the public.
