ACC welcomes associate vice president of student success services

Austin Community College recently named Dr. Ruth Reinhart as associate vice president of student success services effective Thursday, March 1. She will be providing leadership to the three Student Services Regional Executive Deans.

Ruth brings more than 30 years’ experience of working with diverse communities. Her commitment to student success stems from her own educational journey as a first-general college student. She plans to continue to be a role model for the students ACC serves.

Since joining ACC in 2006, Ruth has served in numerous roles, including dean of student services at Riverside and South Austin campuses and professor/counselor at South Austin Campus.

Ruth has served on numerous institutional committees including the Guided Pathways Implementation Team, Campus Operations Task Force, Counselor Evaluation Committee, and the Foster Care Champion Committee.

She also is a member of the Travis County Model Court for Children and Families Disproportionality Committee, which aims to promote successful outcomes for children and families in Travis County. She also served on the St. David’s Hospital Ethics Committee, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Patient Services Committee, and the American Cancer Society Austin Metro Division Executive Board and Patient Services Committee.

Ruth belongs to the Texas Community College Teachers Association and Texas Association of Chicanos in Higher Education (TACHE). She is a mentor for ACC TACHE scholarship recipients and for students in the Catch the Next Program.

Ruth holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from St. Mary’s University and a master’s degree in social work from Our Lady of the Lake University. In August 2017, she earned her doctorate in community college leadership at the Roueche Graduate Center at National American University.
