Austin Community College will present a discussion on the history and politics of
Jerusalem and its role in the peace process as part of the college’s Spring 2018 Global Issues Speaker Series.
Hosted by ACC’s International Programs, the presentation is Wednesday, March 28, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Eastview Campus, Room 8500 (3101 Webberville Rd.).
ACC Government professor Dr. David Albert will explore the last century of debate over the fate of Jerusalem and its connection to the peace process and the U.S.-Israel “Special Relationship.”
“Jerusalem has been anything but peaceful in recent decades. The city has been contested and its destiny has been central to the resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian peace process since it is claimed by both sides as its capitol,” says Dr. Albert. “We will take a look at the developments through the lens of the Trump administration’s decision to move the U.S. Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.”
The event is free and open to the public.
