Austin Community College (ACC) invites students, faculty, and staff to share their experiences with race and racism in a series of interviews designed to guide the development of the college’s Truth, Racial Healing & Transformation (TRHT) Campus Center.
The Office of Equity and Inclusion will visit campuses throughout the district to interview those interested in sharing their story.
“We want to create a safe space where people feel comfortable opening up and being authentic,” says Chris Cervini, associate vice president of community and public affairs. “Our goal is to get a better understanding of what our community needs.”
The interviews, which may be recorded, will guide strategies for building an equitable and inclusive community.
ACC is one of 10 colleges nationwide selected to become a TRHT Campus Center. The centers are part of a multi-year initiative by the Association of American Colleges and Universities to educate, prepare, and inspire the next generation of leaders to break down racial hierarchies.
