From Trish Welch, ACC Career Services director:
More than 1,200 current and future students attended ACC Fest 2019 on Saturday, November 9, at the Highland Campus, Building 4000, to explore programs and get a hands-on career exploration experience.
One of the most challenging aspects of college is choosing a major, and ACC Fest helps address this challenge. When students have a career vision, they’re more likely to complete their degree path on time…and succeed in their careers!
Attendees were provided an interactive experience with programs from all 10 areas of study, student organizations, career and transfer services, and amazing student performances. Students were introduced to Career Coach — a powerful, online program that uses comprehensive labor market data to help students find careers that match their strengths — and discover programs that will prepare them for success.
Funding continues to be a challenge for our underserved populations. ACC Financial Aid, Workforce Solutions Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act, and Capital Idea were onsite to assist with understanding the many options available for low-to-no debt solutions for college completion. ACC has many earn-and-learn opportunities with experiential learning, internships, and work-study opportunities.
Many thanks to the ACC faculty and staff who contributed to the success of ACC Fest! Attendees polled as they exited the event provided incredibly positive feedback.
