The Texas State Legislature celebrates a major milestone for the Austin Community College District (ACC) on the Texas House of Representatives floor. Texas legislators proclaimed April 26 officially as “ACC Day” in the State of Texas.
Led by Rep. Gina Hinojosa, several Texas House members held a special proclamation to commemorate ACC’s 50th anniversary. The representatives honored ACC’s work to change higher education and its commitment to workforce development, career advancement, and access to affordable education.
A delegation from the college, including ACC Chancellor Dr. Richard Rhodes, several Trustees, and the college’s mascot, R.B., received the recognition.
ACC opened its doors in September 1973 to just over 1,700 students. Today, the college serves approximately 70,000 students each year. To learn more about ways ACC is honoring its 50th anniversary, visit the college’s 50th Anniversary website.
