ACC hosts Boots & Bats Gala to raise money for student scholarships

Austin Community College District (ACC) is raising money to support student scholarships.

The college’s annual scholarship gala —  Boots & Bats — returns Saturday, April 29.  Presented in partnership with the Art Has Heart Foundation, all proceeds benefit student scholarships.

Date: Saturday, April 29
Time: 6 to 9:30 p.m.
Location: ACC Highland Campus, ACCTV & Austin PBS Studios

“Without financial support, many of our students wouldn’t be able to stay enrolled and reach their goals. Knowing there is someone out there who believes in you and will support your education means the world to our students,” says ACC Chancellor Dr. Richard Rhodes. “I am so grateful for the support from our donors to remove that financial burden from our students. College is something everyone should be able to afford, and ACC remains committed to that mission.”

The annual gala will be held at the new ACCTV and Austin PBS Studios at ACC Highland. The event features cocktails and hors d’oeuvres by ACC students and employees, live and silent art and experience auctions, live student performances, and live art performances.

The first two Boots & Bats galas raised more than $460,000 for student scholarships.

“Receiving a scholarship made a big difference in my life. I was working two part-time jobs, which limited my time to spend on school. When I received scholarships, I was able to cut down on work hours, study more, improve my grades, and get more involved,” says Diana Gorostieta Martinez, ACC alumna. “Knowing that there is someone out there that believes in the fact that they can help someone, it really does make a big difference.”
