ACC receives $330,000 from JET grant

Austin Community College District (ACC) welcomed the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) and Bastrop ISD for a large check presentation Wednesday, May 10 at ACC Highland Campus. The TWC presented a large check benefiting ACC and Bastrop ISD through the Jobs & Education for Texans (JET) grant program.

ACC received over $330,000 to help purchase and install specialized welding equipment to develop programs and training opportunities for the evolving workforce needs in Central Texas. The equipment will be used in semiconductor manufacturing, bio-medical processing labs, precision manufacturing, and anywhere ultra-high purity piping is required. It will serve and train more than 300 students.

The statewide grant covers start-up costs of developing career and technical education programs. It includes purchasing equipment to establish or expand career and technical programs that lead to a certification, license, or degree in skilled training fields like nursing, automotive technology, and welding. The JET program also supports employers by preparing students for careers in high-demand occupations identified by local businesses.
